Film Visitor.

This week, we had a man who is actively involved with films come in to talk to us and show us how to make a short thriller using little material available.

Firstly, he talked about our opinions on who is the most important person in a film - director, writer, cinematographer etc. After a discussion we all came to the conclusion that no one is the most important and everyone is an important element within making a film. He talked a little about his experiences in film, how hard it is and how you have to be strong-willed.

After that, with a simple digital camera and a simple outline of a scene, we filmed a short thriller with no editing equipment. Using the camera man as the tripod, four characters and a director we produced a short thriller and through this we learnt new skills such as the importance of having a run through the shot first without filming. This enables us to see if the shot works, where the character needs to stop and how long the shot will be. We also learned that in thrillers, fast pace editing is important to set the mood.

We learnt a lot from him and he taught us in a very up-beat way. We all enjoyed it :)
